Ever-busy and bursting with life, Bangkok is may seem like an intimidating place at first, but travellers fall in the city's charm shortly after they have arrived. The locals waste no time at all - street food makers hustle at the busy markets, tuks-tuks and cars slide between each other in the chaotic traffic and pedestrians hurry to run their daily errands. Armed with pulsing energy, Bangkok has transformed from not-so-desirable destination to a must-see place for many. The essence of 'old Asia' and the modernism of an ever-changing culture intertwine to make the city one of the most exciting places in Thailand.

Whether the aim of your visit is to explore the local cuisine, to blend in with the local scene or to just be one of the many backpackers who head there to dive into an exotic world of Asian culture, Bangkok will have something for you. The best part is that you can explore the street and make the city your own. Choose between modern start-up restaurant, up-and-coming bars with intriguing concepts and inspiring co-working spaces to tailor the experience to your own style.

Our contributing photographers travelled to the Asian land to capture the street essence of the thriving city. In this photo guide cool places hide in plain sight. Funky hotels hidden in alleyways, neon signs handing above marker streets and locals navigating their way through the city - this is Bangkok.
