Referred to as the ‘Playground of the Gods’, Cyprus is the third largest island on the Mediterranean. Yet, you can ask the locals and nearly anyone would tell you of how small the country feels and how unlikely it would be to visit another city without bumping into at least one person you already know. But Cyprus is rich on history and heritage. Among the cultural values several legends fall through the cracks, getting the attention of tourists and locals alike.

Considered to be the birthplace of Aphrodite Cyprus is filled with beautiful scenery, contemporary alongside traditional venues and unique cultural heritage. The goddess of love and beauty has become the symbol of the island nation. Tourists from all corners of the world travel to visit the Rock of Aphrodite where the goddess supposedly came out of the sea and onto the Cypriot land. Everyone has likely read the stories of the Greek Mount Olympus where the 12 gods lived. Cyprus has its own mirror version of this mountain hill, located in the Limassol District. Mount Olympus is among the most famous landmarks and the highest point of the island country.

As Cyprus is closely entangled with the Greek mythology, various legends are associated with the island. While some chose to romanticise the destination through those mythological stories and landmarks, Cyprus remains among some of the most exotic locations on Earth. With its welcoming nation, pristine beaches and aquamarine blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Cyprus exceeds some of the wildest expectations. This is a location with some of the clearest seawaters and coasts on Earth. Home to locations such as the Blue Lagoon, the Troodos Mountains and the Baths of Aphrodite, the island is a small paradise. During our trip to the country, we encountered some of the most welcoming people, ready to share their homes, happy moments and cultural values with visitors and guests. The air is intoxicated with positive energy, cultural scenery and Mediterranean vibes.

The tropical paradise has a truly beautiful, historical and warm nation, scenery and heritage. If you haven’t already been there, NOMADSofORIGIN highly recommends you visit the island at least once in your lifetime.
